The Instructors of Charnwood TAGB Tae Kwon-Do

David Price

I really enjoy my Tae Kwon-Do and love teaching.

When my dad took over the Mountsorrel TKD school in 2005 I would regularly join in on the classes to try and lead by example. I find students respond better when they can see their teacher getting stuck in and training rather than just standing at the front shouting at them.

When I first began my training there weren’t many junior students and I was expected to do everything the adults did. I think this was very important in developing my skills as no exceptions were made for age at that time.

When I attempted my black belt grading in 2001, I failed it. I was gutted, but got myself together and gave it another go, and in the October of that year I was awarded my black belt. When I was awarded my black belt, I was the youngest of my instructor’s students at that point to receive a black belt.

When I opened my first TKD school I was very nervous, and worried that no one would turn up to my demonstration and enrolment evening, but thankfully I had a big group and the school has been going ever since.

In 1996 I attended a Tae Kwon-Do demonstration and was amazed. I had to try this!

I still enjoy training now, and have the added fun of teaching my own students, watching them grow in confidence and skill.

It keeps me fit and stops me turning into a couch potato. Another benefit is training and teaching as a family. There are not many sports where you can do that. No arguments from my wife that she is stuck at home while I am out having fun, she goes with me. As a special treat for her birthday we are usually refereeing at the English Championships.

Jane Price

I am a 4th degree black belt and have been training since 1997. I began training to improve my fitness, and to spend time with my family as they both wanted to train too.

Originally I was only going to carry on until my son became settled into the class, but I quickly became addicted to my training, regularly attending classes 3 or more times each week. I also enjoy assisting my son and my husband teaching at their Tae Kwon-Do schools and taking part in demonstrations.
